RESEARCH

Summer Topline Report - The Summer 2016 Seasonal Topline is now available online at MOTPartners.com. It shows a 3.3% increase in estimated visitation to Maine compared with last summer.  Most of this increase is from overnight visitors. The research indicates that the increase in overnight visitation is coming from the Mid-Atlantic States, including a significant increase in first-time overnight visitors from this region.

National Travel Trends - International inbound travel to the United States grew once again in September 2016, at a similar pace to the past two months. However, it is projected that international travel could decline slightly through early 2017, due in part to the strong dollar. Domestic leisure travel will likely lead the U.S. travel market into the first quarter of 2017, according to the U.S. Travel Association’s Travel Trends Index.

- Maine participated in the Discover New England booth at World Travel Market in London, meeting with more than 30 tour operators and product managers from the UK.
